I-95, December 27, 2006 - We left Green Cove Springs, Florida at noon. Then we stopped at a gas station/Dairy Queen in South Carolina (I've never eaten at Dairy Queen before), at a rest stop in North Carolina, at a P.F. Chang's way off the highway in Richmond for a leisurely dinner (I've never eaten at P.F. Chang's before), and at a gas station north of Richmond. Our next stop was in Delaware to search for a hotel that doesn't exist anymore, at which point we decided to just drive all the way home. One more stop at a rest stop in New Jersey, and we were home by 4:15 in the morning. The 1005 miles took us sixteen and a quarter hours, including stops - by far our best time ever!
The way down to Florida took us considerably more time, especially if you count our stopping for the night south of Richmond. Traffic was much worse, but exactly what we expected the Friday and Saturday before Christmas weekend.
As for being down in Florida, it wasn't as boring as I-95, that's for sure. More later.
