- The inn we stayed at for Kim's wedding (Kim being a high school friend of Sue's) was nearly an hour away from the church and about 45 minutes from the reception, but it was worth staying there, not only because of its great setting nestled among the tall fragrant pines on beautiful Kezar Lake, but because it was where Sue and I had our wedding reception eleven years ago. The weather was postcard-perfect this weekend, as it was the day before and day after our wedding. The day of our wedding, however, it poured and poured, thanks to Tropical Storm (formerly Hurricane) Bertha. Kim was much luckier than us in that regard. But she won't be able to gain sympathy from telling everyone stories of, say, coping after the storm took the electricity (and therefore, water) out. Poor her. It's the mishaps that make a wedding.
